Yeah...respect...and back in the day we did not wear monkey straps either!
We stored them forward of the right fuel cell in the compartment over the
forward wheel. Was a good spot to keep a couple of cases of beer too which
we did one time.  Original Hookers!  Guyz would ask us if we could do this
or that and if it was something new the answer was always...Don't know but
we can try!  We didn't have much in "Lessons learned" back then.  Hell, the
aircraft itself was not totally proven when we landed in Sept 65.  So we
sort of made up our own lesson plans and word got around about "how do you
do this?" 
And...I was not alone!  3 companies of Hookers learning from each other.
Great outfit the 228th Chinook Battalion was.  First and only one of its
kind from what I know.
