You are 100% correct that all were family and it was still that way when I left. And no question of every one being a Hooker Would not have had a flyable aircraft long without the long hours and hard work of maintenance guys and no matter how early I needed to take off the cooks and crew at the mess hall always had a good breakfast ready and when I came back in a hot supper was waiting,  All members of 228th did their best is how I remember it.  You hear of race problems or drug problems but I never heard a whisper of these kind of problems in the 228th.  I will admit if I knew I was not flying the next day I probably on occasion drank more than I should have but never enough to be a problem if I was needed.   How is your first wife doing these days ?  Still eating your cooking ? Richard lewisMsg, USA {ret}

 Thanks Richard and for the rest of the  B Co Boat
People that are not on this push and several
others who did not walk back home and especially
Maj Johnson who led us to make the company area
as comfortable as we could.  We will never know
what other ideas he had in that Engineer mind of
his. We were truly a family.  Many on return
stateside went on to teach our replacements
replacements how to be a Hooker.  Thanks buddy
for your thanks to a company full of original
Hookers.  It did not take a CE or FE to be called
a Hooker.  Never forget the many maintenance guyz
who where there when the ships came home.
