Just came through 3 weeks of rain. In Iowa it is unusual to have heavy rain
persist this late in the fall. We set all kinds of records for most
rainfall in 24 hours, most in a week, etc. Farmers are 4 days behind on
harvesting corn and it is the slowest soybean harvest on record, over 11
days behind. The beans have been so wet they are germinating in the pod
which then splits and drops the remaining beans on the ground. Some farmers
will see in excess of a 20 per cent yield loss.
