A couple of hectic weeks coming up. The weekend of the 26, Lynn and I are joining Connor and Vergie Dotson on a weekend trip to Montreal to celebrate his birthday, which ends in a zero. Connor, who is three weeks older than me, flew helicopters in my unit in Vietnam.

August 2 is the annual Centers For Children and Families fundraiser. We are heavily involved in this charitable organization as I am on their board this year and Lynn is a past board chairman. A personal friend and fellow Vietnam helicopter pilot, Col Bruce Crandall is speaking at the event. He is a medal of honor awardee whose story was told in the Mel Gibson movie, "We Were Soldiers..." Bruce's role was portrayed by Greg Kinnear. Bruce is staying at the James casa as well as are two of the guys (and wives) I flew with in Vietnam, Connor Dotson and Lee Leffert. (Our house, by the way, is being remodeled (won't that be fun).

The following week on August 8 is my birthday soiree that Lynn has planned, a catered poolside celebration with live music. Our house will be full with family flying in for that event. Connor Dotson will be there as well as another guy I flew with in Vietnam, John Duffy.
