Guys, wanted to give you a 'heads up' that my book about flying helicopters
in Vietnam will be published by Pen & Sword Books, LTD later this year. It
consists of a collection of Vietnam helicopter true stories about me and my
fellow aviators in Americal Division's Artillery Aviation Section in '68 and
'69. Flying alone, we told our exploits to each other in the evenings over
beers to learn and to survive from our collective experiences. These
stories fondly are called 'TINS,' a Vietnam acronym for 'This Is No Shit.'
Hazardous missions are intermixed with occasional humorous details of our
off duty shenanigans. The stories describe the brotherhood that develops
between soldiers during combat.
A forward to the book was written by General Tommy Franks, Retired Former
Commander In Chief, United States Central Command. (1LT Tommy Franks served
with Americal Div Arty the year prior to the stories when he did get to ride
in the unit's OH-23G's as an aerial observer.)
A few of those stories have been published in the VHPA Aviator magazine,
Heli-Vets, VHFCN, Americal Magazine, and Facebook Groups: Air Medal Society
and Vietnam Veterans Photo Club.
Pen & Sword Books, LTD plans hard backs and digital formats.
