I believe I got acquainted with you through the VHPA years ago when I was working on a sculpture of Master Sgt Roy Benavidez, MOH. That statue was installed at West Point in 2007.

I am now working on another memorial with statues that will honor 17 Medal of Honor recipients. It is the Chosin Few Memorial at the DFW national Cemetery.

As a youth I first heard about the Frozen Chosin from an old Marine. I am embarrassed to admit that after hearing his tales of the battle several times I began to avoid him because I didn’t think I had time to hear it again.

As I young Marine helicopter pilot, schooled in the history of the Corps, I thought I knew all about the Chosin. I found out a few years ago that I didn’t know shit!

I was recruited by some other very old vets - The Chosin Few - to help them tell the story of the Chosin Reservoir Battle by creating a memorial sculpture at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico.

The Jangjin/Chosin Reservoir Battle Memorial was dedicated in May, 2017 by Gen Joe Dunford, Chariman of the Joint Chiefs. In the six years that I worked on that campaign I got to know many stories of the Chosin from soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines. I find that now I am just like that old Marine who first told me about the Chosin - I can’t stop talking about it!

So, here I am writing to tell you that we are doing another Chosin memorial here at the DFW national Cemetery. Please take a look at the GoFundMe page we have set up for our final fund raising push. https://www.gofundme.com/f/chosin-reservoir-battle-memorial-monument <https://www.gofundme.com/f/chosin-reservoir-battle-memorial-monument>

Semper fi and God speed!
