About the next to the last picture is a Huey that landed hard with several
guys out tending to the peter pilot, Lt. Wilcox in Nov. '69. They were the
lucky ones, were in a mid-air and the rotor stayed on. The other one nosed
in from 350' as they were getting into formation leaving Bein Hoa. Just
some ashes from that one left, and the rotor wherever it ended up. We had
gotten a pilot from another unit who was already AC qualified but wasn't up
grade for formation flying. The other ACs were talking to him the night
before on how to position. Anyway, so much for a half rotor spacing. That
was with the 118th AHC.
