[Vhfcn-l] Fwd: TIME TO PUT OUR BOATS AWAY FOR WINTER UP NORTH.....NO MORE FUN ON THE WATER

I do not own a boat, but I am observant. Here in Corpus
Christie the water does not freeze over. In fact we generally do
not get WINTER until the month of January. We may have Cold Fronts
pass thru but they burst on out to the Gulf of Mexico, slow down to a
stop, then come back as a warm front. Even in the month of January
there are more days of T shirts and shorts and flip flops than long
pants and heavy coats. When February rolls around I start thinking of
watching for a succession of low temps at night and deciding when I
will put my tomato plants in the ground because 60-90 days later I
will be picking my own ripe tomatoes! As a home grown Yanqui from
Newport, Rhode Island, and having been in Tejas since January 1977
when the Army sent me from Ft Devens,MA to Ft Hood, TX I find that to
be a wonderful way to live.
I do know about Mr Ek. He loves his state of ME. But it seems to
me when he was learning to fly that he spent some time at Corpus
Christi NAS but I don't know what part of the year he was here and if
he had to purchase short and flip flops.
I think from observing that here people take their boats out of the
water and home because they cannot afford to keep them at a mooring.
They drive to the boat ramp, stick it in the water and when finished
for the day they drag it out of the water and take it to the home
driveway. Up in my hometown of Newport when the web cam that looked
over the moorings in the bay it was interesting to see in the late
spring the boats slowly filling the place up and when Labor Day hit
to see them slowly leave and go someplace else. The some place else
could be the back yard, or a boat yard or someplace waay down south in FL.
