[Vhfcn-l] Kites

That sounds like a hoot Dennis. Brother and I did similar but was
only 6 feet tall and 2 feet between the uprights. Took my fathers
deep sea fishing pole apart and fastened it to handle bar to hold it
and I was only 100lb nylon test and have no idea how long it was but
it was a big fat reel. Took the whole works down to the Cliff Walk
which was about 50' up high up from the Ocean there in Newport, RI
and the wind was blowing off shore. Made several adjustments to the
line attachment to the kite until it lifted off nicely and we put the
clicker on and switched off between us because I burned my thumb
trying to control the line coming off the reel. It looked like a
little thing out there in sky and was pulling real hard and we
chickened out afraid the line might break and our butts would be in
big trouble. Took forever to reel it in. Flew one time and hung in
the cellar until I went in the Army. No idea what happened to it.

Same brother had a bunch of 2 line kites hooked in train fashion and
as I remember him telling me there were 11 kits strung one behind the
other and two straps you held on to. Sent me a video of him sitting
putting that rig all together and then flying it on a beach in MA
where he lived.

Now he just plays golf and has sold all his old kites and live in Tucson
