There is an FAA radar track of the flight path. The pilot took off and increased his speed to 150 knots. H3 slowed to 50 knots and passed through a valley. He then accelerated to 150 knots again. A witness said the helicopter was trailing dense white smoke BEFORE the crash. Sikorsky transmissions use a magnesium alloy. When it catches fire, you can’t put it out with water or foam. The only way is to bury it with sand.
