Very sad to say Jan, his wife, posted the following on Facebook. copied and pasted: Yesterday, my husband Chris entered the memory care unit at a facility here in Corpus Christi. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. At home, he was falling and wandering, so obviously needs 24-hour care. He’s been in hospice respite care for five days, and when we went to see him, he didn’t recognize his son even when told who he was several times, and only recognized me when I told him who I was. Now I have a question. I’m filling out paperwork, of course, and there’s several pages that you can fill out to have “Authorized Electronic Monitoring”—in other words, cameras in the room to see how he’s being treated. Anyone allowed this for a loved one? What did you think? If you haven’t done it, would you if a loved one was admitted to a facility? Reasons why or why not? Thanks for your thoughts, prayers, and answers to this question. You’ve been a wonderful help for me, knowing so many care. It will be a while before we can visit him again because of this horrible pandemic. I will update when that happens. Virtual hugs to all.
